1. Federal funds secured for new Easton water well (wmdt.com) โ Easton residents are getting a new drinking water well and pump house without a rate hike, thanks to $2.62 million in federal funding secured for Easton Utilities. Local, state, and federal leaders say the project will improve clean water access for the town's 7,000 water customers and highlight how smaller Eastern Shore communities are finally getting more attention in funding decisions.

2. Easton one step closer to completing park (wmdt.com) โ Easton is moving closer to finishing the 200-acre Woodland Park, with town leaders seeking $1.5 million from the governor to complete trails, a new entrance, bathrooms, and parking. If funded, this would become Easton's largest park, preserving green space along Oxford Road and adding much-needed recreational amenities for local families and visitors.

3. Education Mid-Shore: STEM Camp Inspires Young Minds (cambridgespy.org) โ A local Mid-Shore STEM camp is giving Easton-area kids hands-on science experiences through partnerships with the Easton Multicultural Center and nearby YMCAs. Recent student leaders from the 2026 Easton STEM Camp managed everything from finances and operations to media, even coordinating a helicopter landing, while inspiring younger campers to see science and technology as fun, accessible career paths.

Curiosity, reading emphasized at Frederick Douglass Day (somdnews.com) โ Easton residents recently packed the Talbot County Free Library despite the rain to celebrate Frederick Douglass Day with songs, prayers, and readings honoring the Talbot County-born abolitionist. Mayor Megan Cook and library director Dana Newman used the event to stress curiosity, respectful dialogue, and the importance of reading widely, encouraging families to explore more books together.

Patricia Ann Cephas (carolinereview.com) โ Easton native Patricia Ann "Poochie" Cephas, 64, passed away September 17 at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton, leaving a legacy of faith, service, and devotion to family. Born in Easton and educated on the Shore, she dedicated her career to supporting people with disabilities, cherished her church in Federalsburg, and is remembered by her children, grandchildren, and a large extended family.
