The 100-Year Forest Experiment: Smithsonian Science Talk
Join us for the kickoff of the 2016 free evening lecture series at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center!

"BiodiversiTree: The 100-Year Forest Experiment"
Speaker: John Parker
In 2013, SERC researchers and volunteers planted 35 acres of farmland with 20,000 trees to investigate how tree identity and diversity impact forest ecosystem functioning. Since then, they have monitored tree survival, canopy development, and water quality as the new forest grows. Learn more about this century-long project from SERC ecologist John Parker. Lectures are free and open to all.
