4 Davidsonville Residents Run Boston Marathon
One of the runners participating in the prestigious race is 59 years old.
The 2012 Boston Marathon began Monday and four Davidsonville residents joined thousands in the 26.2-mile trek.
Local participants, according to the Boston Marathon's entrants database, included Colleen M. Carroll, 39; Mary A. Hadley, 49; Thomas F. Hattar, 50; and Mary J. Rohde, 59. They were among thousands who participated in the 116th running of the race on Patriots Day in Boston.
No Edgewater, Lothian, Shady Side or Deale residents ran in the marathon, according to the database.

The race featured elite runners from around the world with each needing to qualify in order to participate.
ABC News reported that temperatures in Boston were expected to rise into the 80s, forcing 4,300 runners to sit out.

According to USA Today, Wesley Korir of Kenya won the Boston Marathon with a time of 2:12:40. That time is more than five minutes behind the world's best time. USA Today reported that heat may have played a factor.
