Two children and two adults were hospitalized after a two-car crash in Edgewater, police said.

EDGEWATER, MD — Police said two children and two adults were hospitalized last Saturday after a two-car crash in Edgewater. Some of the injuries were serious, but officials expect everybody to survive.
The accident happened around 1:47 p.m. at Solomons Island Road, also known as Maryland Route 2, and Stepneys Lane. Officers alleged that a 2018 Honda CRV was heading north on Solomons Island Road when it drifted out of its lane and hit a 2018 Ford Explorer at the stop sign on Stepneys Lane. The collision damaged the front of both SUVs.
Medics flew the Honda's front seat passenger, a 12-year-old boy in critical but stable condition, to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore. The driver, a 36-year-old woman, and the backseat passenger, a 10-year-old boy, were not hurt. Authorities released them on the scene.

The Ford driver, a 39-year-old woman, went to a Prince George's County hospital by ambulance with a serious back injury. The front-seat passenger, a 42-year-old man, and the backseat passenger, a 4-year-old girl, went by ground to the Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis for precautionary treatment.
Officials think the cause of the crash was the Honda's failure to stay in a single lane. The Anne Arundel County Police Department is still investigating the wreck. The case number is 2021-733963.
