Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. LOTHIAN, MD — Two people suffered serious injuries Monday morning in a two-vehicle crash in Lothian, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Firefighters were called to the accident in the 300 block of Mount Zion Marlboro Road, between Solomons Island Road and Greenock Road, just before 6 a.m.Responders found a two-vehicle accident with no occupants trapped, as was initially reported to emergency dispatchers, but two injured victims. A Maryland State Police medevac helicopter was asked to land near the scene for transport.Officials say the passenger of each vehicle, a 66-year-old man and a 40-year-old man, were flown by helicopter to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.Paramedics took the drivers of both vehicles to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries.Authorities have not released the names of those involved in the crash, or a cause for the accident.»Photo courtesy of Anne Arundel County Fire Department
