Davidsonville Man Given Nearly 11 Years For Possessing Child Abuse Images

DAVIDSONSVILLE, MD — Christopher Willard Clendenin, a 38-year-old man from Davidsonville, was ordered Monday to serve nearly 11 years in prison for possessing child sex abuse material.

Judge Sidney Butcher sentenced Clendenin to 35 years in prison and suspended all but 10 and a half years.

Clendenin will also be required to serve five years of supervised probation, register as a Tier 1 sex offender for 15 years, and participate in the COMET program.

He was also credited with already serving 97 days.

The sentencing comes after Clendenin was found guilty in May of seven counts of possessing child pornography material.

"Our prosecutors learned from the Australian Federal Police that one of the videos the defendant possessed depicted a female child under the age of 4 engaged in a sex act with an adult," State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said in a release.

"We also learned from the National Crime Agency in the United Kingdom that a separate image in the defendant's files showed a 4-year-old female from the United Kingdom being raped by an adult male."

"This defendant has failed to take responsibility for his actions or acknowledge the harm that this type of crime causes," Leitess said.

Clendenin came under investigation by the Anne Arundel County Police Department in April 2023 after officials received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

Child abuse content found on Reddit was traced to Clendenin by the NCMEC.

When a search and seizure warrant was executed by authorities, additional footage was found on a Gmail account linked to the Davidsonville man. During an interview, he told investigators that the account was from "a couple emails back."

The case was prosecuted by Assistant State's Attorneys Anastasia T. Prigge and Sean Fox. The investigation was led by Detective Jonathan Bruce from the Anne Arundel County Police Department.
