Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. ANNAPOLIS, MD — Anne Arundel County Public Schools has announced a change in the schedule for Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017. The region will be under a <a href="https://patch.com/maryland/annapolis/winter-weather-advisory-2-counties-calls-3-inches-snow" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winter weather advisory</a> overnight, from 3 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, affecting the roads in some areas. School officials said on Friday afternoon: Due to the updated forecast calling for as much as 3 inches of snow beginning tomorrow morning and continuing through tomorrow afternoon, all school-sponsored activities scheduled for Saturday, January 7, are canceled. Activities scheduled for this evening, Friday, January 6, will go on as scheduled. For the status of any activity sponsored by an agency other than Anne Arundel County Public Schools, parent should check with that agency.
