Anne Arundel High Schools Rank Among Best in State: U.S. News
The 2015 US News and World Report rankings of the country's top high school places one Anne Arundel County school in the top 10.
Maryland tops the 2015 US News and World Report annual education rankings as the state with the most high-performing high schools, with one Anne Arundel County school cracking the state’s top 10.
The state wins the coveted education bragging rights, with 28.9 percent of its eligible schools earning gold and silver medals. According to the publication, those schools are most successfully preparing students for college, based on students participating in and achieving passing scores on Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate tests. Students must also do well on statewide tests.

California came in second in the publications’ rankings with 27.2 percent of its high schools earning gold or silver medals. Connecticut was third with 25.4 percent.
Seven of Maryland’s top high schools are in Montgomery County, with Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda leading the way.

Severna Park High School was No. 10 on Maryland’s list, while other county high schools placing included: Arundel High at 21st, Old Mill High at 36th, Annapolis High School at 37th, and North County High School at No. 52 for the best showings in the county.
