Anne Arundel Police Arrest Suspect in String of Stolen Catalytic Converters
Local police arrested Arnold Lee Bowman, 43, for the theft of two catalytic converters, as well as the possession or burglary tools.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department’s Metal Theft Unit has arrested Arnold Lee Bowman as a suspect in a string of catalytic converter thefts in recent weeks throughout Anne Arundel County.
According to the department’s Facebook page, detectives uncovered enough evidence to arrest Bowman for the theft of a catalytic converter off a Toyota pickup truck in the 7100 block of Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie at around 8:20 p.m. on May, 25. Police also charged Bowman with the theft of another catalytic converter taken from a Ford Escape in the 4500 block of Belle Grove Road in Brooklyn Park at around 3:15 p.m. on May 28.
A catalytic converter, according to the Facebook alert, is “a component of a vehicle’s exhaust system that reduces pollutants.”

Per the Facebook page, Bowman’s minivan contained four stolen catalytic converters, a saw, a cutting tool and a small amount of heroin with related paraphernalia at the time of his arrests. Police are now investigating the incidents surrounding the other recovered converters inside Bowman’s vehicle.
