Atlee 'Lee' Monroe Sellers, 93, of Edgewater

Atlee “Lee” Monroe Sellers, a resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Hyattsville, died on Friday, July 31, 2015 at his home. He was 93.

Born January 20, 1922 in Waynesboro, PA, to the late Walter Monroe and Elizabeth Shank Sellers, he graduated from Greencastle High School in 1941. During WWII, Lee served in the Philippines as a 1st Lt. Mess and Billeting Officer in the U.S. Army. He was employed as a tax assessor for Prince George’s County and enjoyed discussing politics and spending time with family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Lewis Sellers; a son, William Atlee Sellers; and three siblings, Joseph, Mark and Ann Sellers.

Lee is survived by his sister, Virginia Murray of Greencastle, PA and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. at Ft. Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road in Brentwood.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Hwy., Pasadena, MD 21122.
