ATV, Motorcycle Crashes Send Riders To Hospitals
A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and a boy driving an ATV was seriously injured in separate weekend accidents in the Lothian area.
LOTHIAN, MD — A motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and a boy driving an ATV was seriously hurt in separate weekend accidents in the Lothian area, according to Anne Arundel Fire Department officials. Authorities have not released the name of either driver.
In the first crash, a 19-year-old man driving a motorcycle went off the road and struck a guardrail about 2 p.m. March 29 at 5111 Sands Road in Lothian. A Maryland State Police helicopter landed near the scene in Waysons Corner and flew the injured motorcyclist to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
His injuries are critical and possibly life-threatening, county fire officials said Monday in a release.

In the second accident, a 13-year-old boy driving an ATV crashed about 3:19 p.m. on Portland Manor Farm Road.
Paramedics took the boy to the trauma center at Children’s National with injuries that were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

No other vehicles were involved in either accident, the fire department said.
