ATV Rider Thrown Near Friendship, Flown To Trauma Center
An ATV rider thrown from the vehicle was seriously injured in a crash near Friendship, county fire officials said.
FRIENDSHIP, MD — An ATV rider thrown from the vehicle was seriously hurt in a crash near Friendship Saturday afternoon, county fire officials said. The accident happened about 5:18 p.m. in the 200 block of Serene Drive, according to a news release from the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
Firefighters responded to a report of an injured person following an ATV accident. Witnesses told fire crews that a 19-year-old man was jumping hills when the front end of the vehicle came straight down, throwing the rider over the handlebars. Paramedics requested a Maryland State Police helicopter, which landed near the scene at Friendship Road and Kim Lane.
The rider was flown to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with serious injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, authorities said.
