In honor of National Beer Day, here are some of the top bars and taverns for beer in Edgewater, according to Yelp.

EDGEWATER, MD — Whether you're in search of a place that had not only good beer, but a welcoming atmosphere on a dreary winter night or a sunny summer day, the Edgewater area has some spots that come awfully close.

Whether you like ale, lager, a porter, or some other type of beer, we can all agree atmosphere, vibe and other intangibles contribute to the values of a nice beer spot. With that in mind, the region has had a beer renaissance as of late, with several establishments touting their food as well as the mix of domestic beers and imports.

Waterman’s Tavern: 145 Mayo Road, Edgewater. Said Yelp, "This is a nice little spot in Edgewater to get some cold suds and some decent food."

Mike’s Bar & Crab House: 3030 Riva Road, Riva. Reviewer says, "YAY!!! I'm a fan all the way... We visit Mike's Bar & Crab House often during the summer, and we always enjoy the best service and food!! Tony, is the best."

Coconut Joe’s Bar & Grill: 48 S. River Road South, Edgewater. "The wrap wet and soggy to hold. I ate one forth of that. My bf ordered a chicken sandwhich with cheese mango sauce i believe and he ate half of it. The best was the pickle."

Blairs Londontown Pub and Grill: 726 Londontown Road, Edgewater. Customer wrote, "A great country bar hangout with friendly owners and patrons. This place was described to me as a dive and it has that atmosphere."

Chesapeake Cigar: 135 Mitchells Chance Road, Edgewater. Yelp says, "Stopped in a few times over the years when commuting from DC through Edgewater, While the lounge in the rear of the store is the biggest & the best in the area, one does at times feel like an intruder in this shop."

The Old Stein Inn: 1143 Central Ave. E, Edgewater. User wrote, "Did I mention the food is better than all those trendy places in DC. The best!"

Glory Days Grill: 3 Lee Airpark Drive, Edgewater. "Food was mediocre at best and service was average. With all the other sports bars around this would be my last pick. It is basically a mix between Buffalo Wild Wings and Red Robin."
