Board OKs School Calendar that Factors in Weather Closings
If Anne Arundel County Public Schools miss an extended number of days because of weather in 2015-16, spring break will be shorter.

From the AACPS Communications Office:
The 2015-2016 school calendar approved Nov. 5 by the Anne Arundel Board of Education includes new guidelines for an extended number of weather closings, which would eat into spring break.
This calendar sets the 2015-2016 school year to begin on August 24, 2015 and end on June 16, 2016.

In addition to breaks for Thanksgiving, winter holidays, and spring break, the board has scheduled days off for students and teachers on all legal holidays, along with four half-days off for students when teachers attend professional development workshops.
The calendar includes five days of weather-related closures. If unused, these days will be subtracted from the school year; if weather conditions necessitate 6 to 9 school day cancellations, the Board of Education will shorten the length of county schools’ Easter/Spring break.
