Catherine Peake Weincek, “Kitty”, 86, a 40-year resident of Edgewater, MD and previously of Seabrook, MD, passed away at her home after a brief illness, on Friday, March 20, 2015.
Kitty was born August 8, 1928 in Washington, D.C. to the late Joseph and Josephine Tippett. She was a 1946 graduate of McKinley Tech High School in Washington, D.C. Her career included working as an administrative aide for the MD Board of Education, Robert Goddard Jr. High School, MD General Assembly and General Omar Bradley First Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

She was a member of the American Legion Post 136 Greenbelt, MD, Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary Council 1384 Annapolis, Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 622 Annapolis and was a parishioner at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church Edgewater. Her joys were her family, playing Shotgun Bingo and living by the water. Kitty’s greatest attribute was unknowingly being a role model for those who knew her.
Kitty is survived by her 3 children; William “Billy” T. Peake Jr. and wife Diane of Chester, MD, Daniel “Danny” J. Peake and wife Vicky of Edgewater, and Katherine “Kaye” A. Sylvester and husband Earnie of Edgewater, as well as, 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; Steven, Katie, Joey, Christina, Lennon, Justin, Alexx, Kyla, Brady, Henry, Matthew, Jessica, Nick, D.C., Andrew, Mackenzie, Julaine and stepmother of Maryann, Jim, Floriann, Pete and Craig. She was the loving sister of Patricia Cilento, Charles Tippett, Barbara Jean Morrisette, Jane Thomasson and the late Lauretta, Joe, John, Russell and Meta Jane Tippett, William Blake, Louise Ricker and Vivian Taylor.

Kitty was preceded in death by her former husbands; William T. Peake, Sr. (1979) and Floyd P. Weincek (2007).
Friends are invited to Kitty’s Life Celebration on Wednesday from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD. A Memorial Mass will be held in her honor on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at 10am at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Rd, Edgewater, MD. Private interment at Lakemont Memorial Cemetery.
Thanks to Hospice, Kitty’s last days were spent in the comfort of her home surrounded by family and pets. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122.
