Davidsonville's Travis Pastrana To Star in 3-D Film

The half-hour MTV show "Nitro Circus" has been made into a full-length feature film. It may be released by the summer.

Davidsonville's favorite daredevil-in-residence, Travis Pastrana, has done a little of this—X Games gold medalist, supercross, motocross, freestyle motocross—and a little of that—rally racing, stunt performances, NASCAR Nationwide Series driver.

Possibly as soon as this summer, the 29-year-old can add motion picture star to the mix with his upcoming movie, Nitro Circus 3D.

In 2009, Pastrana and his team of stunt and daredevil friends launched Nitro Circus as a show on MTV. It was a half-hour spinoff of the Johnny Knoxville series, Jackass.

Nitro Circus is different than Jackass in that the cast imagines dangerous, difficult or funny stunts, then conduct tests to be able to pull off the stunt by the end of the show. Many of the stunts involve cars, stunt bikes, motorcycles or ATVs. Foam pits are seen as often as the stars themselves. Sometimes, the show goes to a different location or they'll bring in guest stars.

It is a mix of dangerous and goofy, exciting and slapstick. For the older set, think Evel Knievel meets the Three Stooges.

Well, Nitro Circus is coming to the big screen. Pastrana announced on his Facebook, Twitter and You Tube pages Monday night that the movie is "100 percent" filmed and in post-production.

Pastrana called the movie "Lepicdary" (epic + legendary).

"Expect the impossible, ridiculous, insane, hysterical and purely awesome," Pastrana wrote on Facebook. He said the 3-D movie will "make you feel like you are riding shotgun with the crew."

"We can't wait to show everybody the finished product because we have captured the biggest and best stunts we have ever attempted," he wrote.

The movie does not have a release date, but Pastrana said he hopes it could come out in time for moviegoers to see this summer. Check the IMDB website for updates on a release date.
