The Calvert County woman's Chevy Malibu hit a pole in Riva in a single-car accident Sunday, police say.

RIVA MD — A Calvert County driver was critically injured Sunday night when her car crashed into a power pole in Riva, authorities said.
Rachel Lynn Baden, 23, of 1237 Alta Drive in Sunderland was driving just after 7 p.m. on Riva Road near Riva Trace Parkway. The impact of the crash severed the pole and knocked down power lines.

Baden was flown by police helicopter to Shock Trauma with critical, life-threatening injuries.
The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Baden’s failure to remain in a single lane. Police say speed and alcohol do not appear to have been factors in the crash.
