Driver Hurt In Shady Side Crash: Officials
A driver was seriously hurt when his vehicle went off the road and into the woods near Shady Side, emergency officials say.

SHADY SIDE, MD — An elderly driver was seriously hurt when his vehicle went off the road near Shady Side on Sunday, emergency officials say. The single-vehicle accident was reported just after 9:05 a.m. in the 1600 block of Cedar Lane, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
Responders found the vehicle, which left the road and traveled 100 feet into the woods. The driver and only occupant in the vehicle, a 77-year-old man, was briefly trapped before being extricated by firefighters.
Paramedics took the driver to a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter, which landed at Shady Side Elementary School, and he was flown to the Trauma Center at Washington Hospital Center with serious injuries that authorities did not consider life-threatening.

Officials have not released the victim's name or possible cause of the accident.
