UPDATE: Edgewater Head-On Crash Injures Two Drivers

A Maryland State Police helicopter flew one driver to the hospital after a Wednesday night crash in Edgewater.

(UPDATED at 10:50 a.m. Friday) EDGEWATER, MD — A two-vehicle head-on crash on Route 214 in Edgewater Wednesday night injured the drivers of the cars, authorities said.

The accident happened shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Central Avenue East and Turkey Point Road. The injured drivers are a 57-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, neither of whom had passengers in their vehicles, theCapital-Gazette reports.

A Maryland State Police medevac helicopter flew the female driver to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. The injured male driver was taken by ambulance to the trauma center, fire officials said.

Authorities say the drivers' injuries were serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

Police have not released the names of the drivers involved, their hometowns, or said if any charges will be filed.
