Edgewater Fencer Takes Home Gold Medal
Locals participated in the 2011 USA Fencing National Championships and July North American Cup, held in Reno.
The DC Fencers Club (DCFC) recently went to Reno for the USA Fencing National Championships. The team took home 11 medals.
The 2011 Championships were held July 1 through 10. DCFC fencers, ranging in age from 12 to 70 years old competed in both team and individual events.
The Championships are the largest fencing tournament in the world with more than 3,500 fencers from clubs around the country. The event served as the final qualifying tournament for the 2011 Veteran World Championships as well as the first qualifying event for the 2011 Junior and Cadet World Championships.

Among the highlights, Kazimieras Kampe of Edgewater took the Gold Medal in the Men’s Veteran 70 Epee.

The DC Fencers Club has a national and international reputation as one of the best fencing clubs in the United States. The club offers instruction through classes, camps, workshops, and individual lessons.
Fencers of all ages are welcome, and members range from recreational fencers to fencers who compete in local, regional, national, and international tournaments.
DCFC coaches have a combined 100 years of training, competition, and teaching experience, and they include credentialed fencing masters and National and World Champions.
