Edgewater Man Charged With Choking, Beating Woman
The victim was choked and struck multiple times, say police, who charged the suspect with attempted murder and assault.

An Edgewater man faces an attempted murder charge after allegedly attacking a sleeping woman Tuesday, police said.
Anne Arundel County Police officers were called to a house in the 200 block of Mayo Road in Edgewater about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. The woman told police she had been assaulted by a man she just met, identified as Singh Malhi, 30, of Edgewater.
The victim told officers she was asleep in a bedroom when Malhi entered the room yelling at her. When the woman tried to leave, police say the suspect would not let her go.

During the assault the woman was choked and struck multiple times on her face and head. She was treated at Anne Arundel Medical Center for her injuries.
Police charged Malhi with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and false imprisonment.
