Edgewater Man Has Drugs Mailed To Annapolis Hotel: Police

A brown cardboard box containing an estimated $130,000 worth of drugs was mailed from California to an Annapolis hotel, police say.

EDGEWATER, MD — A 24-year-old Edgewater man has been charged with importing between 5 and 45 kilograms of marijuana into Maryland, possession with intent to distribute drugs and possession of more than 10 grams of marijuana — a total of 6,554 grams.

Michael Clayton Kenney had a package mailed to the Governor Calvert House and contacted the staff saying he needed to pick it up. A hotel manager there called police instead. The Baltimore Sun reported that the brown cardboard box contained more than 14 pounds of marijuana and an estimated 1,000 grams of THC.

Using the alias Greg Harris, Kenney showed up at the hotel Friday night to collect his package. But Annapolis narcotics detectives had already completed a K-9 scan of the box, obtained a search warrant and saw what was inside. Police estimated its street value to be $130,000.
