A reader said shops should be closed to give workers family time, but one commenter asked why so many consumers swarm the stores if most readers say Thanksgiving should not be a work day.
Bruce Potter said, ”I think that local businesses should be closed on Thanksgiving to allow the employees to spend the day with their families. If they want to stay open, I suggest that the owners go in and run their business for the day.”
Which drew this response from Keith Phelps: “If everyone thinks they should be closed then why do you all flock to the stores.”
