Edgewater Tops List of The 'Most Redneck' Towns In Maryland (ICYMI)

Roadsnacks.net has compiled a list of the "most redneck" towns based on the number of places to buy tobacco, ammo, bars, and more.

Edgewater has landed at the top of a subjective “Top Cities” list, but it isn’t necessarily one to brag about. And residents may dispute the characterization.

The Roadsnacks website, a data compiler that specializes in creating lists that rate communities on how “snobby” or “drunk” they are, went there, compiling a list that rates the “most redneck” towns in several states - including Maryland. And Edgewater is ranked No. 1 on the list, with several other Anne Arundel communities making the top 10.

Roadsnacks.net has compiled a list of the “most redneck” towns based on criteria including size of small towns, least amount of high school graduates, number of bars per town, and number of places to buy tobacco, fishing gear, guns and ammo.

What is a redneck anyways? Well, the authors quote the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, which says a redneck is:

“A white person who lives in a small town or in the country especially in the southern U.S., who typically has a working-class job, and who is seen by others as being uneducated and having opinions and attitudes that are offensive.”

About top-ranked Edgewater, the folks at Roadsnacks wrote:

“Whoo-whee, Edgwater! You have the official bragging rights as being named the most redneck city in the entire state of Maryland! You may now brag to your friends and share this endlessly on your Facebook walls.

Let’s see why. Rednecks need two things most: A bar to throw back some cold ones with the boys, and chew. Here in Edgewater, there are lots of both.

Actually, a redneck needs a good woman, shotgun and duck tape, but we can’t measure those.”
