Edgewater Woman Dies In Head-On Car Crash: Police
Christina Michele Lay, 49, of Edgewater has died after being involved in a head-on collision on Davidsonville Road March 16.
DAVIDSONVILLE, MD — A 49-year-old Edgewater woman has died after she was hit head-on March 16. Christina Michele Lay was southbound on Davidsonville Road just south of Rutland Road in her 2018 Honda CR-V when a 17-year-old driving a Honda Civic traveling northbound crossed the center line and hit Lay. The accident happened shortly before 5:30 p.m.
Lay was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. She passed away at the hospital. The teenager from Crofton was taken to Shock Trauma with serious injuries. The primary cause of the crash appears to be the driver of the Honda Civic failing to remain in a single lane, according to a report from the Anne Arundel County Police Department. At this time, speed and alcohol are not believed to be a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation by the county police department's traffic safety section.
