EDGEWATER, MD — An electrical problem likely started a fire that caused an estimated $50,000 damage to an Edgewater house Wednesday and displaced two residents, say Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials. The fire was reported about 10:45 p.m. at a house in the 1000 block of Arundel Road.

The residents called 9-1-1 after discovering a fire in their home's attic. Firefighters reported smoke and fire from the attic and roof area of the home; they extinguished the fire in less than 10 minutes.

Authorities say the cause of the fire was accidental and electrical in origin.
