Employees at The Greene Turtle Sports Bar and Grille(R) in Edgewater to Donate Tips Earned on Dec. 10 to Toys for Tots

Employee "Tips for Tots" partnership, now in its 9th year, hopes to raise more than $55,000 across 26 communities this December

WHAT: Employees at The Greene Turtle Sports Bar & Grille in Edgewater will donate 100 percent of the tips they earn on Wednesday, Dec. 10 to Toys for Tots as part of The Greene Turtle’s “Tips for Tots” initiative, which continues a tradition started by two bartenders at the Salisbury, Md., location in 2006. The Greene Turtle Franchising Corporation will add a matching $500 donation for each participating location that earns $1,000 in tips on Dec. 10. The Greene Turtle will also conduct raffles and silent auctions throughout the day to raise additional funds.

The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in the community in which the campaign is conducted. During the first eight years of Tips for Tots, The Greene Turtle has donated $103,000 in purchased toys to local Toys for Tots programs through the tips donated by employees, donations from the corporate offices and additional gifts donated by other members of the community.

Customers of The Greene Turtle who are unable to visit a participating location on Dec. 10 can help in two other ways – by dropping off a new, unwrapped toy at a participating location by Wednesday, Dec. 10, or by making a donation online on the Tips for Tots “GoFundMe” page at http://www.gofundme.com/h2vs4o. For a complete list of participating locations and additional information about Tips for Tots, please visit www.greeneturtle.com/tips-for-tots.
