The Londontowne Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Anna Binneweg, will open its Champions & Heroes season with a special concert on the actual date of the 10th anniversary of 9/11 to honor our national heroes through some of the most powerful and emotional American music of the 20th century. The concert, titled "Concert of Remembrance", will include Barber’s Adagio for Strings, Howard Hanson’s The Requiem and William Shuman’s A Prayer in Time of War. The afternoon will conclude with Copland’s epic Lincoln Portrait with special guest narration by Dr. Marc Boensel, retired member of the U.S. Naval Academy Band and founder of the Annapolis Wind Symphony.
