Evelyn B. Velgos, 87

On November 10, 2014, Evelyn B. Velgos, 87, devoted and loving wife to the late Paul Velgos and extraordinary mother to daughter Paula and son Rick, made her decision to fly home for eternal rest with Paul.

Born on March 19, 1927 in Sharon, PA, she was the third of four children. During WWII, Evelyn began her long career as a registered nurse, when she met Paul, the love of her life, and married him on November 25, 1948. They were together for 55 wonderful years.

Evelyn was a surgical nurse in Washington, DC for 6 years and later worked in a doctor’s office in Annapolis, MD for 17 years. After retiring in 1990 she volunteered in many ways. She also was a member of the Ladies of Elks Lodge #622. Most importantly Evelyn enjoyed her role as a grandmother and Baba.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Paula Wollman (Velgos); her son, Richard Velgos; 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, November 14 from 3pm until her memorial service begins at 4pm at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Rd., Edgewater, MD 21037.
