Family of Three All Get Black Belts

Chris Sawyer of Edgewater gets his Black Belt in Taekwondo, joining his wife and daughter who already had theirs.

Chris Sawyer of Edgewater joined his wife Esther and daughter Xena by getting his Black Belt in Taekwondo on August 16, 2015, who had both previously received their Black Belts.

For many years now, the family of three have been taking classes together at their school, East Coast Martial Arts of Edgewater and also train together at home. Their school’s motto is “family’s that kick together, stick together” and believe that Taekwondo has been a critical part of their family and personal success with the fun, discipline and the positive relations experienced with their honorable instructors and awesome classmates.

Also, for the past three years, Esther and Xena have won Gold Medals and Chris has won Silver medals at the Amateur Athletic Union’s National Taekwondo Championships and helped their schools competition team win the Gold cup in Point Sparring each of the three years. “We love this sport, it’s a way of life for us now!”
