Friendly's Closes 63 Stores, Keeps Maryland Restaurants Open

As part of Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing, Massachusetts-based Friendly's will remain open in Maryland, despite closing 63 underperforming restaurants in states from Massachusetts to Florida, according to reporting by Mass Live.com.

The website said that the company would be attempting to restructure and emerge from the filing a stronger company.

According to Friendly's website, the company celebrated 75 years in business in 2010. The has been open since the late 1990s on Mitchell's Chance Road, across from South River Colony Marketplace shopping center.
