fun things to do while unemployed

You have tons of time on your hands if you don't have a job. What to do? How to pass the time away?

  • sleep/nap.
  • clean the house.
  • complain about things on facebook, or patch. lol
  • worry about money. more so since unemployment was stopped and the feds tossed 1.6M of us under the financial bus. Note they still send Billions of tax dollars to foreign countries that hate us. And still waste our tax money funding other stupid things, like studying the drinking habits of Chinese prostitutes. Much more important than helping Americans here at home (so it would seem).
  • Pray. If you live in the US in 2014 prayer is essential, since no one in DC is looking out for you. Their only trying to figure out how to get MORE of your money.
  • Watch TV
  • Volunteer
  • Write a letter to your Senators and get an automated email reply that talks about the "mess" our democrats here in MD inherited from Bush. 5 years into Obamas presidency, it's STILL bush's fault!
  • Visit your local credit union and tell them you may no longer be able to pay the loan you promised you would pay 19 months ago when you took the loan out. You had a decent paying job then.
  • Drink. Some do this. I don't recommend it. Bad idea.
  • Go on job interviews. If your getting interviews. I'm not getting many.
  • Take money from your IRA, knowing you will get nailed with taxes and a BIG 10% penalty. Who needs retirement anyway? Taking IRA money out is not a good idea, but hey you want to eat right?
  • Take some college classes to help better your chances of getting a better job. What? You have no money? No college for you I guess. Beware that "free" money the feds give for college. It’s counted as income and you will be taxed on it. Last thing you needed was a big tax bill after being out of work for over 6 months. That free scholarship is not looking so free now.
  • Keep job hunting. Hope you can find something paying more than current minimum wage.
  • Get outside in the sun. Take walks. Read the bible. Take a walk in the park or at the mall.
  • Get on a budget. Now more than ever you need to reduce expenses and control your spending.
  • If you do find a job, odds are it will be part time. 30 hours a week or less. You can thank the Affordable care act (obamacare) for this. Employers keep hours under 30 so they don't have to pay insurance for workers. If minimum wage goes up, employers will cut hours more and hire less people to save money.
