Gail Patricia Boss, 62, of Edgewater

Gail Patricia Boss, 62, of Edgewater, passed away peacefully at home with her family members at her bedside on Dec. 15.

Born Feb. 1, 1953, with Down Syndrome in Dedham, MA, she was a loving presence and a lively personality as the kid sister in an Irish Catholic family and as a friend or volunteer or Can-doer bowler.

Before moving to Edgewater in 1987 with her sister, Mary Lynne Boss, former principal of the Academy of the Holy Cross in Kensington, Gail did volunteer work with the Sisters of the Holy Cross at St. Cecilia Academy in Washington, D.C., and AHC. She loved Christmas, the ocean, swimming, apple pie and turnips. In the last three years she endured Alzheimer’s disease.

Her memory will be cherished by friends and family members Barbara Appleman of Pennsylvania, Peter Boss of California, Wayne Boss of California, Mary Lynne Boss of Edgewater, Patricia Hanson of Edgewater and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Dec. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, and at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 9 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial is held at 10 a.m.
