Woman Dies In Edgewater Crash After Colliding With Semi: Police
The driver of a 2014 Ford Fiesta heading south on Solomons Island didn't stop for a red light and hit a tractor-trailer broadside.
EDGEWATER, MD — A Maines Paper and Food Service International tractor-trailer driven by 49-year-old Thaddeus Cornell Foster 2nd was headed east on Central Avenue East and entered the intersection with Solomons Island Road on a green light. The driver of a 2014 Ford Fiesta heading south on Solomons Island didn't stop for the red light and hit the trailer broadside. According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department, the Feb. 17 incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m.
The driver of the Ford Fiesta, 20-year-old Alexis Mary-Grace Greco of Hanover, was pronounced dead at the scene by members of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. Her body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore for an autopsy.
The primary cause of the crash appears to be the driver of the Ford failing to stop for a red traffic signal, according to the police department. Drug and alcohol results are pending toxicology tests by the O.C.M.E. The traffic safety section is handling the crash investigation.
