Homeowner Shoots Trespasser Who Attacks with Rebar: Police
A Lothian resident and former FBI agent shot and critically wounded a man who reportedly trespassed into his house, police say.

(Updated at 1:30 p.m. Friday) LOTHIAN, MD — A Lothian resident who shot and critically wounded a man who reportedly trespassed in his house Thursday and then attacked with rebar, is a former FBI agent, officials say. The shooting was reported just after 8 a.m. in the unit block of Mullen Lane, where Anne Arundel County Police officers found a man suffering from two gunshot wounds.
Investigators say the shooting victim broke into a residence, and was confronted by the homeowner and his wife, who attempted to remove the intruder from their home. The homeowner then shot intruder in the leg, and the intruder retaliated by wielding a piece of steel reinforcing bar when he was shot a second time by the homeowner.

The intruder fled the house, but soon collapsed from his injuries, police say. He was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center for treatment, where he was listed in critical condition on Thursday afternoon.
Detectives have received an arrest warrant for the suspect, which will be served once he is released from the hospital. Authorities will release the identity of the shooting victim and the charges he faces after the arrest warrant is served.
