James "Jim" Adams, 90, of Edgewater

EDGEWATER, MD — James “Jim” Adams, 90, of Edgewater, and previously of Nutley, NJ, died on Dec. 18, 2015

Jim was born on November 28, 1925 in Jersey City, NJ, to the late Richard and Katherine Adams. After graduating from St. Peters Prep in Jersey City, NJ, James enlisted in the Army Air Corps, where he would serve until the end of World War II.

He was married to his wife Gloria Hewitt in 1947 until her death in 1982. James was active as a head lector at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in NJ as well as serving as a lector at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, in Edgewater. He was also a life member of the American Legion serving as commander and finance officer at his post in Nutley, NJ and as Chaplain for Post 7 in Annapolis.

Jim is survived by his daughter, Sue Crandall, of Edgewater; two grandsons, James Sullivan, of Ft. Hood, TX, and Michael Crandall, of Kansas City, MO; two granddaughters, Sherry Sullivan, of Sydney, Australia, and Gretchen Timmons, of Ft. Benning, GA., as well as six great-grandchildren.

Interment will be at a date yet to be determined at Arlington National Cemetery.
