Joseph Vincent Rossi, 47, of Edgewater, MD, formerly of Waterbury, CT, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 5, 2016, as the result of a boating accident.

His greatest joy came from spending time with his family. Joey was the devoted son to Anthony and Gesina (Decaria) Rossi. He was the loving Papa to Matteo and Siena and caring former husband to Christie Coletti Rossi.

Joseph was born June 3, 1969, in Waterbury, and had lived in Edgewater for the past seven years. He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School and Southern Connecticut State University. After graduation, Joe worked at SCSU for 12 years and rose to the level of assistant dean. After leaving SCSU, Joe had success in the higher education software sales industry with Oracle and most recently with Ciber, Inc.

He was an adventurous, fun-loving and spirited guy who enjoyed running with his daughter, scouting with his son and cruising with his family in his classic ’68 Impala. He lived for the moment and made each one count, like he did each Halloween by decorating the scariest house and driving all the kids around on “Putter,” his family’s famous neighborhood golf cart. While his biggest fans were Siena & Matteo, he also loved rooting for the Yankees and the Patriots.

Besides Christie, his children and his parents, he leaves his sister, Maria G. Nordgren and her husband Brian of Thomaston, many nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends and coworkers. Everyone he touched he made a friend.

Arrangements: Funeral Monday, June 13, at 10:30 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Those planning to attend are asked to meet directly at church.

Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
