Kahve Café Will Celebrate Teacher Tuesday

Kahve Café in Edgewater is celebrating teachers and thanking them for their hard work with a discount.

Beginning April 16, the local café introduced Teacher Tuesday, a promotion that offers 10 percent off to all school employees every Tuesday.

“I had been talking to some of the teachers that come in and was trying to work something out,” said Kahve owner Joe Valentino. “I wanted to do something to show some appreciation for what teachers do.”

Kahve opened in Edgewater on June 18, 2011 and quickly became a local favorite. The café offers coffee, teas, breakfast treats, tasty sandwiches and more.

After graduating from college, Valentino spent two years teaching at a boarding school in Indiana. He said his experiences in education inspired Teacher Tuesday.

“When teaching you get wrapped up in student’s lives and it is a stressful job,” Valentino said. “They don’t always get the recognition they deserve.”

Kahve is located at 155 Mitchell's Chance Rd., inside South River Colony.
