Lina Marija Vaitkus, 53, of Edgewater, died of cancer on Wednesday, Nov. 18, at her home.
Born on December 13, 1961 in Bethesda to Steponas and Aldona Kindurys, Lina graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. She worked as a sales associate with Ethan Allen Furniture and as an office manager with ACME Iron Works before having children. Lina then decided to be a stay at home mom to raise her children and care for her family. She was the treasurer for the Turnbull Estates Homeowner’s Association and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.

In addition to her parents, Lina is survived by her husband, Kestutis Vaitkus, whom she married on September 20, 1987; her daughters, Janina Vaitkus of Richmond, VA and Katrina Vaitkus of Edgewater; her sister, Zita DiMeo of Corrales, NM; her uncle Stasys Kalvaitis of Gaithersburg and her dog, Torri.
Friends are invited to celebrate Lina’s life from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 23, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, 515 Loch Haven Road in Edgewater. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring.
