Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Owings, MD: Cardinal Hickey Academy, a Montessori Preschool and K-8th grade private Catholic school in Owings, Maryland sent off it's 8th graders in a ceremony at the Covenant Community of Jesus the Good Shepherd Church on Thursday, May 31. After years of hard work and service, those graduates who chose to continue their Catholic education were accepted into competitive Catholic high schools such as St. Mary's Ryken, DeMatha, Gonzaga, Elizabeth Seton and Bishop McNamara, among others. Thirteen students applied to Catholic high schools and were offered an estimated $350,000 in scholarship money. Congratulations to all graduating students, as well as the parents, families and educators that helped along the way! Cardinal Hickey Academy provides a faith-based education with a rigorous academic curriculum. Enrollment for the 2018/2019 school year is currently open.
