Two local volleyball teams from the South River Volleyball Club won gold and silver medals at a volleyball tournament on Jan. 27.

The 14U Storm placed second in the MD Juniors 14’s Open Tournament, which is the more competitive pool in the contest. The 14U Surge placed first in MD Juniors 14’s Club Tournament.

Trish Sorrells, a parent and photographer for the team, said both Storm and Surge hosted tryouts in mid-November and didn't really start practicing together until December, which makes their success even more exciting.
