Lothian Driver Strikes Deer, Car Rolls Over: Police

A Lothian woman suffered a serious head injury when her car first struck a deer, then hit a tree and rolled over, police say.

LOTHIAN, MD — A Lothian driver was seriously injured Saturday afternoon when she first struck a deer on the highway and then crashed into a tree, officials say.

The one-vehicle accident happened after 3 p.m. in the area of Mt. Zion Road (MD 408) near Ed Prout Road. Anne Arundel County Police say a 2004 Hyundai Elantra driven by Lisa Marie Scott, 44, of Berts Drive, was westbound on Mt. Zion Marlboro Road when it struck a deer. From there, Scott's car veered off the road, struck a tree, and rolled over.

A medical helicopter flew Scott to Shock Trauma Center for a possible head injury. Saturday night she was listed in serious, but stable condition.

There was no indication of excessive speed or alcohol use, police say.
