Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. LOTHIAN, MD — A Lothian man was critically injured Monday night when he lost control of his motorcycle and was thrown from the bike, according to Anne Arundel County Police. Raymond Christopher Jones, 34, of the 20o block of Fifth Street in Lothian, crashed about 11:30 p.m. on Southern Maryland Boulevard near Sands Road in Lothian.Investigators say a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle driven by Jones was southbound on Southern Maryland Boulevard when the driver lost control. He was taken to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with critical injuries. The primary cause of this crash appears to be Jones' failure to maintain control of the motorcycle, police said.
