Lothian Roofer Wins $50K With Third Baby On Way

A Lothian roofer and father who will soon welcome his third child was thrilled to win $50,000.

LOTHIAN, MD — An Anne Arundel County man has made his living up in the air, working as a roofer for nearly a decade, but has recently discovered that good things also happen when he keeps his feet on the ground. That’s because the 26-year-old roofer just won $50,000, courtesy of a $5 Deluxe Crossword scratch-off ticket, according to a news release from the Maryland Lottery.

The Lothian resident said the big scratch-off win extended an improbable streak that began with a pair of Racetrax prizes at the start of the year, followed by a third sizable win from a scratch-off just a month later. This week’s $50,000 win occurred when he decided to unwind with a Deluxe Crossword scratch-off. He uncovered six words on his game, winning the ticket’s top-prize.

The Lottery enthusiast quickly scanned the ticket using the Lottery’s My Lottery Rewards App to discover just how much he had won. When the $50,000 amount appeared on the screen of his smartphone, the normally sturdy workman began to shake, he told Lottery officials. When he composed himself, he hurriedly called his wife to share the news.

The winner said he is impressed with his increasing luck, and added that this latest prize would help with a series of expenses. He and his wife are expecting their third child this summer, and are hoping to visit both sides of the family in Mexico sometime this year.

The Dash In convenience store at 8228 Woodward Road in Clinton will collect a $500 bonus for selling the lucky ticket.
