Man Thrown from Car in Edgewater Rollover Accident
Anne Arundel County authorities say a man was thrown from a car when it rolled in an Edgewater area crash; the driver fled the scene.

EDGEWATER, MD — A man was thrown from a Honda Civic when it rolled in an Edgewater area crash on Sunday night and the unknown driver fled the scene, according to Anne Arundel County authorities. The one-vehicle crash happened about 9:45 p.m. in the area of Solomons Island Road near Tarragon Lane.
Anne Arundel County Police say a 2002 Honda Civic was southbound at a very high rate of speed when it failed to negotiate the curve, began to spin and went off the road. The vehicle then struck a ditch and became airborne, ejecting the unbelted passenger from the car. The passenger — Secundito Diaz, 22, of an unknown address — was taken by Maryland State Police helicopter to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with serious injuries.
Police say the driver left his injured passenger behind and fled on foot with unknown injuries. Officer, along with K9 units and a helicopter, searched the area but were unable to locate the driver.

Investigators say the driver was last seen in near the Spring Hill Suites on Admiral Cochrane Drive calling for a ride.
Diaz remains hospitalized Monday but is expected to survive, according to police.

Excessive speed and failing to remain in a single lane appear to have caused the crash, police say, while alcohol is a contributing factor. Any charges are pending review by the State’s Attorney.
The car is owned by German A. Perez-Hernandez of Graff Court in Annapolis.
