Anne Arundel County Recreation and Parks serves millions of residents and visitors annually through a wide variety of services and programs. Its primary focus is to provide comprehensive recreational programs for residents and safeguard valuable land through the maintenance and management of over 160 parks and natural areas. The department manages specialized recreational facilities, including two swim centers, two golf courses, three ice rinks, a baseball stadium, a softball complex, and programs tailored to diverse needs ranging from school-age childcare to adaptive recreation. It also cares for thousands of acres of land, encompassing community parks, greenways, archaeological sites, environmental and historical preserves, and large regional parks spanning several hundred acres. Its mission is to create opportunities that allow individuals to enjoy life, explore nature, and restore their health and well-being. FRIENDSHIP, MD — The driver of a motorcycle suffered serious injuries and was flown to an area hospital after colliding with a car in Friendship, Anne Arundel County Fire Department officials say. Firefighters were called to the area of Solomons Island Road and Friendship Road about 9:55 p.m. Tuesday for a two-vehicle accident in which a motorcycle struck the side of a sedan. Paramedics asked a Maryland State Police medevac helicopter to land at nearby Tracey's Elementary School.Authorities say the 41-year-old male patient was flown to the Trauma Center at Prince George's Hospital Center with injuries that were serious, but not believed life-threatening.The identity of the drivers involved has not been released.»Image via Shutterstock
