Motorcyclist Killed After Being Thrown Into Utility Pole
A motorcyclist was killed in the early morning July 29 near Lothian after his motorcycle struck a trailer, throwing him into a utility pole.
LOTHIAN, MD — A motorcyclist is dead following an early morning crash along northbound Route 4 near Talbott Road in Lothian. The accident occurred at approximately 4:59 p.m. July 29. The motorcyclist, Christopher Whisman Jr., 33, of Broomes Island, struck a box trailer being pulled by a Dodge truck while changing lanes. He first hit a tree and was ejected from his motorcycle, striking a utility pole.
Anne Arundel County emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene, along with the Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department and Prince George's County Fire/EMS Department. Anne Arundel County firefighters found the motorcyclist already deceased upon arrival. The Anne Arundel County Police Department said that the truck's driver, Thomas Earl Morsell, remained at the scene and is not facing charges at this time.
The northbound lanes of Maryland 4 were shut down for several hours Monday morning, reopening at approximately 9:30 a.m.
