Oscar Fay Grimes, 90, of Edgewater

Oscar “Grandpaw” Fay Grimes, an 88-year resident of Davidsonville, and previously of Sudley, died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Monday, July 13, 2015. He was 90.

Born August 19, 1924 in Sudley Manor in Galesville, Oscar attended Davidsonville Elementary School and Annapolis High School. He was a lifetime member of Davidsonville United Methodist Church. Oscar was also an All-Star member of the 4-H, former State Vice President and current member of the Farm Bureau, the soil conservation board and was active with the Anne Arundel Antique Tractor Club. He also helped establish the Anne Arundel County Fair and served as the first treasurer.

Oscar was the husband of 64 years, Jean W. Grimes; father of William O. Grimes and his wife, Michelle of Davidsonville, MD, Barbara Smith of Albuquerque, NM, Suzanne Grimes of Davidsonville, MD and the late Lisa Grimes; brother of Estelle Hall of Annapolis, MD and the late J. Glover Grimes, Margaret Shepherd and Helen Duckett; grandfather of John D., David W. Matthew T and Jennilyn Grimes, Isaac J. Atcitty and Joanna Turner and her husband, Glen.

Friends may call at the George P. Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater, on Friday, July 17 from 6 to 8 pm and at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W. Central Ave. in Davidsonville, on Saturday, July 18 from 10 am until time of his funeral service begins at 11 am. Interment will be at the church cemetery.
