Police: Two People Found Dead in Lothian
Man found with gunshot wound; deaths are termed by police as 'suspicious.'

Police in Anne Arundel County found two people dead Monday in a home in Lothian, and said they are investigating the deaths as “suspicious.”
At 12:56 p.m. Monday, police responded to a home in the 600 block of West Bay Front Road for a report of an unconscious man lying near a weapon, according to a police statement. Upon arrival, officers found a man suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body in the master bedroom.
Fire department personnel responded to the scene and later pronounced the man as being deceased, the police said. He was identified as Anthony Joseph Anastasi Jr., 40, from the 600 block of West Bay Front Road in Lothian.

As officers searched the residence, they found an injured woman in the basement. She had “suffered apparent trauma to the upper body and was pronounced deceased by medical professionals,” the police said in the statement.
The woman was identified, but her name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the police said.

Homicide detectives and other personnel are searchubg the scene for evidence, and the police said thjey have interviewed several witnesses. “Preliminary information indicates this was not a random act of violence but a targeted incident,” the police said in the statement.
The bodies of Mr. Anastasi and the woman will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsies.
