Report: County Looks to Expand Riva Area Park
The county has requested a state grant of $1.1 million to purchase acreage to create additional athletic fields, repots The Capital Gazette.

Riva Area Park in Davidsonville could get 50 percent larger, if the Maryland Department of Natural Resources approves a recent $1.1 million dollar grant request for the Anne Arundel County Department of Parks and Recreation, according to The Capital Gazette.
The funds would be used to purchase 36 acres of land adjacent to the 61-acre Davidsonville park. The land would be developed into athletic fields, which are much needed by the local community, according to the Davidsonville Athletic Association.
“There is a shortage,” Maddie Brown, field coordinator for the DAA told The Capital Gazette. “We have to put a lot of teams in one field.”
The Capital Gazette reports that the state board is scheduled to vote on the Riva Area Park expansion grant on Sept. 4.
